Karissa Myers began training with Tia Stewart in her small hometown of Georgetown in northern California. She later augmented her training at The Sacramento Academy of Dance under the direction of Janelle Sebren, as well as at The Sacramento Ballet School. Karissa has attended summer sessions at ABT, Joffrey Ballet, Sacramento Ballet, and City Ballet of San Diego. After high school, she joined The Sacramento Ballet for two seasons. Now in her eleventh season with City Ballet (the first two as an apprentice), Karissa has performed in Giselle, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Leave the Light On, The Seasons, Peter Pan, The Nutcracker, Tchaikovsky Spectacular, Carmen, The Firebird, Romeo and Juliet, Carmina Burana, C-Squared, Swan Lake, Requiem, Don Quixote, Ramonda Variations, Esmeralda and the Hunchback and George Balanchine’s La Source, Serenade, The Four Temperaments (Third Theme and Phlegmatic), Rubies, Valse Fantaisie, Walpurgisnacht Ballet, Agon and Donizetti Variations, Concerto Barocco, and Emeralds, plus Geoff Gonzalez’s Seasons and his Carmina Burana. Karissa enjoys dancing with City Ballet along with her twin sister, Kyla.
