Ryosuke Ogura, from Japan, started his training at Sapporo City Ballet under Mika Ogura. In 2002 he competed in the Youth America Grand Prix finals in New York City and received a scholarship to the Kirov Academy of Ballet in Washington DC, where he studied under Anatoli Kucheruk. In 2005 he received a scholarship to Harid Conservatory and studied under Oliver Pardina. In 2007 he joined Milwaukee Ballet II and trained with Rolando Yanes, Mireille Favarel, and Karl von Rabenau. In 2008 Ryosuke joined Atlantic City Ballet, under the direction of Phyllis Papa where he performed corps to Principal roles in Dracula, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Sleeping Beauty, and The Nutcracker. In 2010, he joined Columbia Classical Ballet, Artistic Director Radenko Pavlovich, and performed in The Wizard of Oz, Cabaret Night, The Nutcracker and The Hunchback. Now in his eighth season with City Ballet of San Diego, Ryosuke has performed the Cavalier in The Nutcracker, The Seasons, Carmina Burana, C-Squared, Requiem, the Gypsy King in Don Quixote, Mercutio in Romeo and Juliet, Ramonda Variations, Bowed Piano, Esmeralda and the Hunchback, Carmen, Tchai Celebration and Kaschei in The Firebird. In George Balanchine’s ballets, he has performed in Allegro Brillante, Serenade, The Four Temperaments, Square Dance, Rubies and the principal roles in Walpurgisnacht Ballet and Tchaikovsky Pas de Deux and the company’s premiere of Peter Martins’ Ash.
