Rony Lenis, originally from Pereira, Colombia, began his formal dance education at the Miami Conservatory of Ballet, and has trained with the Joffrey Ballet School, the Gelsey Kirkland Academy, and the French Academie in New York City. At the Colorado Ballet, Mr. Lenis danced in George Balanchine’s Theme and Variations, Glen Tetley’s The Rite of Spring, on the 100th anniversary of the original ballet’s premiere, as well as the classics Giselle, The Sleeping Beauty, and Cinderella. He joined City Ballet of San Diego in 2014 for two seasons, dancing in George Balanchine’s Rubies, The Four Temperaments, and Square Dance, in addition to Don Quixote, Romeo & Juliet, and Requiem, and originating roles in Geoff Gonzalez’s four PAIR and Speakeasy. After spending two years expanding his training and repertoire with New York City choreographers based in the Martha Graham technique, Mr. Lenis returned to City Ballet of San Diego in 2018. Rony is also on faculty at the City Ballet School.
