Kendell Wood was born in West Palm Beach, Florida and began her early training with Demetrius Klein. She continued her training with Sandra Miller in Hendersonville, North Carolina. In 2004, Kendell began her three-year stay with the University of North Carolina, School of the Arts. There she studied under Melissa Hayden and Keejuan Han. Kendell attended summer intensive programs at the Kirov Academy, Ben Stevenson Academy, and Harid Conservatory. Since joining City Ballet in 2008, first as an apprentice, Kendell has danced in the company’s productions of Carmina Burana, Stravinsky Pieces, La Bayadere, A Midsummer’s Night Dream, Giselle, Peter Pan, The Nutcracker, The Firebird, Romeo and Juliet, The Seasons, Swan Lake, Requiem, Don Quixote, Raymonda Variations, Seasons, Carmen, Tchai Celebration and George Balanchine’s Rubies, Valse Fantaisie, Walpurgisnaht Ballet, Emeralds, Serenade, Agon, The Four Temperaments, Concerto Barocco, and La Source.
