Carly Topazio began her training in her hometown of Millis, MA and then at Boston Ballet under the direction of Mikko Nissenen, and Margaret Tracey. At the age of fourteen, she was accepted into the Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet where she studied for three years. In 2011 Miss Topazio joined the Alabama Ballet under Artistic Director Tracey Alvey, where she performed in featured roles such as the Fairy of Happiness and Red Riding Hood from Sleeping Beauty, the Lead Spanish in Swan Lake, Twyla Tharp’s Bakers Dozen, soloist roles in Paquita, and George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker. Miss Topazio has performed in George Balanchine’s Serenade, Walpurgisnacht Ballet, Allegro Brillante, The Four Temperaments, Raymonda Variations, the original premiere of A Night in The Tropics by Brian Enos, and William Forsythe’s In the Middle, Somewhat Elevated. Miss Topazio has attended summer programs on scholarship at Ballet Austin, San Francisco Ballet, Milwaukee Ballet, Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, and Houston Ballet. Carly can also be seen performing as a ballet dancer in the Disney movie The Game Plan. This year will be Miss Topazio’s fifth season as a company member with the City Ballet of San Diego after one season as an apprentice. While at City Ballet, Carly has performed in The Nutcracker, Don Quixote, Romeo and Juliet, Raymonda Variations, Esmeralda and the Hunchback, Esperanza in Carmen, The Firebird, Giselle, Tchai Celebration, Requiem, George Balanchine’s The Four Temperaments, Walpurgisnacht Ballet, Square Dance, La Source and Serenade, plus Geoff Gonzalez’s Treatment, Carmina Burana and the company’s premiere of Peter Martins’ Hallelujah Junction. Carly continues to spearheaded the presentations of The Rosin Box with other City Ballet dancers.
