Basic ballet positions and terminology are introduced. Interacting with other children in a positive environment adds to the child's sense of self-awareness. 45-minute class for pre-kindergarten and kindergarten age children. Technique and PointeGraded classes in classical ballet to meet the needs of students at each stage of their development. Technique is built upon learning solid placement and work habits. Students are challenged with increased complexity as they advance through the higher levels. Each student is carefully evaluated before starting study on pointe. Sufficient understanding of correct placement and alignment must be demonstrated before pointe instruction begins thus decreasing the possible risk of injury. Turns / AllegroAdditional studies in the area of ballet turns, exploring complex turning combinations including diagonals and menege The allegro studies focus on learning how to move quickly through clean technical habits and clarity. VariationsInstruction and analysis of classical pointe variations from famous ballet repertoire. ContemporaryInstruction on contemporary ballet, a dance form influenced by both classical ballet and modern dance. Explores the greater range of movement beyond classical ballet, based on 20th century concepts. Hip-HopInstruction and study of the ever-evolving street-inspired dance, from hip-hop's 1970s funk-style roots to today's krumping. JazzThe class is geared for ballet students to explore the percussive and lyrical movements of jazz. Students learn how the whole body in involved in performing. Dress CodeGirlsAll levels must wear pink tights with feet and pink ballet shoes. Hair must be pulled back off face and tightly secured. No jewelry. Pink leg warmers, ballet sweaters and City Ballet jackets may be worn at the barre when necessary. No T-shirts or baggy outer garments. If tuition is paid after the first week, a 10% late fee will be added to the tuition cost. A payment plan may be arranged for tuition over $450 per quarter. There are no refunds. Missed classes due to vacation or illness may be made up in an appropriate class within the same quarter. Missed classes may not be applied to subsequent quarters. Classes may not be transferred to another person. Notify the City Ballet School office if a class will be missed, if the student is changing a class schedule or is discontinuing the class.
