Dance Camp 2013: Ballet 2

Recommended for Ages 8-11

Session I: July 1 through 13, 2013    Session II: July 15 through 27, 2013

Curriculum

Technique: Beginning to intermediate classical ballet technique to meet the needs of students at the early stage of their development.  Technique is built upon learning solid placement and work habits.

Turns / Allegro: Additional studies in the area of ballet turns, exploring complex turning combinations including diagonals and menege  The allegro studies focus on learning how to move quickly through clean technical habits and clarity.

Jazz (Optional): Explores the percussive and lyrical movements of jazz.  Students learn how the whole body in involved in performing.

Class Schedule

Monday and Wednesday

  • 3:30pm: Technique
  • 4:30pm: Workshop (stage make-up, dance-related crafts, demonstrations and rehearsals)
  • 5:00pm: Turns / Allegro
  • 6:00pm: Class Ends

Friday

  • 2:30pm: Jazz (Optional)
  • 3:30pm: Technique
  • 4:30pm: Workshop (stage make-up, dance-related crafts, demonstrations and rehearsals)
  • 5:00pm: Turns / Allegro
  • 6:00pm: Class Ends

End-of-Session Performance

Dress Code

Girls

  • Pink tights with feet and pink ballet shoes
  • Mirella camisole leotard - buttercup (Mirella #M201C, #M207C, #M201L or #M207L); no skirt
  • Hair must be pulled back off face and tightly secured
  • No watches or jewelry
  • No T-shirts or baggy outer garments
  • For optional Jazz class, choice of apparel with jazz or ballet shoes

Boys

  • Black tights, white T-shirt, white socks and white ballet shoes
  • No watches or jewelry
  • No T-shirts or baggy outer garments
  • For optional Jazz class, choice of apparel with jazz or ballet shoes

Tuition

  • Session I: $175
  • Session II: $175
  • Both Sessions: $325 ($25 discount)

A 25% non-refundable deposit is required no later than Friday, June 14, 2013.  The deposit will be applied to the tuition amount.  Tuition balance is due no later than the first day of Dance Camp class.

Space is filled on a first-come, first-served basis.  A limited number of students may be enrolled for Dance Camp.
