Ballet Goes to School
City Ballet offers special at-school programs to teach children about the performing arts, dance and ballet. City Ballet's at-school education programs meet the California State Standards for Dance.
School Assembly
Can't come to the theater? City Ballet's Ballet Goes to School program offers ballet at your school with a fun and informative 40-minute assembly. The program is performed by City Ballet's professional dancers in full costume. The program is geared for children, capturing and maintaining their interest. Study guides are provided for all teachers.
Nutcracker in a Nutshell
The full Nutcracker story is condensed to provide an introduction to the full-length Nutcracker.
- Available: November 11 through December 2, 2011
- Appropriate Grades: K through 8
- Cost: $450 for one assembly; $750 for two back-to-back assemblies
- Facilities: The school provides a microphone with a PA system, a stage space preferably 32 feet wide by 24 feet deep, and a nearby dressing room.
The Firebird
Stravinsky's score brings to life the Russian story of a mystical bird that saves fair maidens from an evil magician.

Do You Think We Can Dance?
Dancers perform different forms of ballet from classical, neo-classical to contemporary, showing the different sides of ballet.

Classroom Demonstration
Two dancers from City Ballet come to your classroom with a 30-minute Discover a Dancer program. Students learn ballet steps and the French terminology, plus a special, close-up and personal look into the ballet world.

- Cost: $100 for one classroom demonstration; $150 for two classroom demonstrations; $200 for three classroom demonstrations (multiple classroom demonstrations must be on same day)
