Sayaka Otani, a native of Japan, trained at the Cerri Academy de Ballet in Kanagawa and Yuriko Kawaguchi Ballet School in Tokyo, Japan. She was a company member of Ballet Chambre Ouest for eight years. Sayaka has performed lead roles in Cindellera, Giselle, Swan Lake, Coppelia and The Nutcracker. During the December 2007 Nutcracker Tour in New York, she danced the lead role of Clara for Ballet for Young Audiences. She has attended summer programs at Royal Winnipeg Ballet and City Ballet of San Diego.
Sayaka joined City Ballet in 2008 as an apprentice; Sayaka has performed in Elizabeth Wistrich's The Nutcracker, A Midsummer Night's Dream, The Seasons, Giselle and George Balanchine's Serenade, La Source, The Four Temperaments, Walpurgisnacht Ballet, and the lead in Valse Fantaisie. This will be her second season as a company member. |
