Emily Kirn, a native of Rock Island, Illinois, joined City Ballet in 2003. She trained at the Alabama School of Fine Arts under Dame Sonia Arova, and was an apprentice at the Alabama Ballet under the direction of Wes Chapman. She holds a BFA with honors from the New School/Joffrey Ballet program in New York City. While in New York, she trained with Eleanor D'Antuono, David Howard, and Trinette Singleton, and appeared in David Howard's World Tour class video.
Since joining City Ballet, she has been featured in many roles including Cupid in Don Quixote, Titania in A Midsummer Night's Dream, the Peasant pas de deux in Giselle, Tsarevna in The Firebird, and in George Balanchine's Who Cares?, Serenade, La Source and Valse Fantaisie. Emily acts as rehearsal assistant for City Ballet, teaches in the City Ballet School, and is the director of City Ballet II. |
