An Evening in Paradise

Join us in a tropical paradise for an unforgettable evening featuring the cuisine of renowned chef Amy DiBiase of Baleen Restaurant, followed by an exciting after-party where you can disco with our dancers in the beautiful new Sunset Ballroom overlooking Mission Bay.

The evening begins with a champagne reception and a silent auction, followed by a live auction led by celebrity auctioneer, Richard Lederer of KPBS' A Way With Words.  Also meet special guest Veena Goel, Miss California 2004, and preview our exciting 2006-2007 season with a special advance performance by City Ballet dancers.

About the Chef

Amy DiBiase from Baleen Restaurant

Early in life, Amy DiBiase's interest in the culinary arts was cultivated by her mother, an expert baker and candy maker who worked for years as a restaurant manager where Amy, at 8 years old, found herself inside professional kitchens in the presence of excellent chefs.  She admits she could not help but have a natural predisposition for working in the kitchen and always knew deep inside that she would eventually become a great chef herself.  Amy DiBiase began as a sous chef at Mediterraneo, a popular restaurant in Providence, RI.  She then made her way out west to Denver, CO where she honed her skill at 4th Story Restaurant & Bar as well as Appaloosa Grill.

Prior to her arrival to BALEENsandiego, the Paradise Point Resort’s critically acclaimed restaurant overlooking beautiful Mission Bay, Amy DiBiase was chef de cuisine at Laurel, a Mobil Four Star-rated French/Mediterranean restaurant in San Diego.  While at Laurel, she was involved in all culinary and stewarding operations which included creating all seasonal menu changes and daily specials as well as planning and executing numerous holiday menus for more than 300 guests.  She also participated in several culinary and charity events on behalf of the restaurant.
